Our new book project

Our new book project

It’s true. I have a book in the making. So far, I have written 16 chapters of various topics all relating to caravanning. It’s a natural extension from our YouTube channel and links many topics that we have covered together. It also provides extra information that cannot easily be contained on a video.   What is the book about? Well that’s where it gets a bit tricky. You see, I’m crowd funding this project and until the project is agreed and the publisher agrees with what I want to create and share, then it’s all a bit hush I’m afraid. But it relates to caravanning and will be great for...

The new Bailey Phoenix

The new Bailey Phoenix

The new Bailey Phoenix replaces the very popular entry level Bailey Pursuit range, but don’t be fooled, there is not a lot in this brand-new caravan that would say “Entry level” In fact the marketing team have re-invented the phrase “entry level” and coined the phrase “First Choice’. The look and feel is more in line with the Series 4 Unicorn, and as you look around the caravan you might see details that are borrowed from the Unicorn range. The exterior boasts a fresh clean look with high contrasting graphics on the polar white shell and the clean bright white finish is contrasted with the...

Vango Varkala Connect review

To be completely upfront with you, I’m not a fan of air awnings. We had a very expensive and bad experience with one a few years ago. Ultimately, the roof sagged, water pooled, the fabric stretched and ruined the awning. It was on that basis that we decided to purchase our rollaway awning. We loved it because it was easy and quick to put up, we could change the layout and configure inside / outside spaces. We loved it. Nothing could come close in its ability to be all things for all occasions. Vango asked us some time ago to become ambassadors and review their products. I knew that one day...

Selling the caravan

Selling the caravan

Yes, it’s true. We are selling our Lunar Clubman ES. I suppose it’s a decision we have been building up to for a while now. It’s a decision based on pure logic. If we incorporated emotion I’m sure we would stick with what we have because, the truth is, we love our caravan. He is a part of the family. With emotion aside, there are a few reasons why we feel now is the time to move on to another caravan. Our decision is based around a few key elements and these are summarised below: 1. We are a different family now. When we purchased the caravan, our requirements were for a family of 4. Since...

Top 5 caravanning apps for 2018

It wasn’t so long ago that I created a post detailing the apps I find really useful when out and about in the caravan.  As we all know, technology moves on at a fair old pace these days, so it was only fair that I revisited this topic and gave a list of my top 5 caravanning apps for 2018. Who knows, perhaps I will need to update this again next year. Instead of listing them here, I created a video on our YouTube channel, Links to all the apps are in the video description. But what do you think ? what apps do you use and do you think there is a vital application missing that would help and...

Easter break 2018

Easter break 2018

Easter is usually the time when Spring really starts to show its arrival in the countryside around us. We’ve had great times camping during the Easter break, the weather has always been slightly dubious, but generally it’s been bright, sunny and full of Spring time promise. Not this year. Nope, Easter was a washout. And for some that were away in the caravan, it was more than a wash out – snow was very much on the cards. For us however, we were treated to some wonderful days of constant rain. Camping at the Caravan & Motorhome club in Longleat we were joined by the Hardhams’ for 4 days...

Brand ambassadors

We have a lot planned for 2018 and much of it we cannot discuss until it is confirmed. Some of it is in relation with working with some familiar brands that you have heard of, some of it is projects we have planned for later this year. It is a real shame we cannot tell you more, but today we are able to let you in on one secret. We are delighted to share that Vango have asked us to become brand ambassadors. As many of you are aware we love Vango, we have kitted out our awning with lots off their furniture and accessories already, and being Vango brand ambassadors suits us perfectly. Okay, so...

YouTube Live

Over the past few weeks we have been hosting “Monday Night Live” on our YouTube channel. The series of Live broadcasts have been received well. In our 1st live video we discussed the up and coming NEC Motorhome show and generally got to grips with the Live video concept. It was a nerve racking time but I think we did okay. Our 2nd Monday night live was more structured and we had learnt some lessons from the 1st one with reading comments and what to do when broadcasting. It did also teach us the lesson of troll management, as this episode was hit by a lot of unsavoury types for some reason....

Zebra Pot Chilli

Zebra Pot Chilli

You may have noticed that we always forget the zebra pot containing our chilli for the 1st night’s dinner in our holiday vlogs. It’s a running joke in our house, but we’ve only forgotten it twice. Maybe three times, um – actually four? Anyway, back to the plot. I do get asked a lot what is our recipe. So, here is our Zebra Chilli. No, it doesn’t contain zebra,  it’s in relation to the pot we use.   Ingredients – 400g of Minced Beef – 2 Onions – 2 Clove garlic – crushed – 1 tin Chopped tomatoes – 1 tin Red Kidney beans – 1 tin Baked Beans –...

10K Giveaway

If anyone had said to me back in January 2016, “Dan, your family will have 10,000 subscribers on a YouTube channel next year that is focused towards the UK caravanning scene” I would have laughed at them from a great distance. But here is the reality: We do and we have. A thank you from me just doesn’t seem to cut this immense milestone, so the only fitting way to celebrate and mark this occasion to to hold a give away. Up for grabs are 10 prizes from brands and companies we have worked with over the past couple of years. For a full list of the prizes and more details about the competition,...

Caravan Cleaning with Mellerud

Caravan Cleaning with Mellerud

Cleaning the caravan. You either love it or hate it. For me it’s a great time to unwind, care for the caravan and get it ready for the next adventure. In general, I find it quite cathartic. One thing I do not enjoy however is those pesky black streaks. They are every caravanners worst nightmare. The black streaks are formed from the rubber seals around windows, roof lights and other seals around the exterior of the caravan. As sunlight degrades the very top layer of rubber (exactly what its supposed to do, otherwise it will crack and perish) it creates a loose layer of material that can be...
