It’s that time of year where the Caravan, camping and Motorhome show is preparing to open its doors once again.
After a hiatus for what seems years the show is returning to the NEC. Although there are some notable absences to who is exhibiting at the show, the overwhelming demand on tickets and what looks to be a record setting attendance really does show how popular the leisure industry has become in recent times.
Of course, we have to thank the one thing that has caused the cancellation of the last few shows. Indeed the pandemic caused a record surge in demand for caravans, motorhomes and camping equipment for holidays in the UK. It is this demand which has directly translated to interest in the show and what vendors have on offer.
If you’ve never attended the Caravan, camping and Motorhome show at the NEC, here is a very quick run-down on what you can expect.
New caravan and motorhome manufactures showcase their latest models along with recommended accessories on the stands. Not only will you be able to see and explore the new products, but also have the team that designed most of them on hand at the stand. Dealers will also be mingling on the various stands to give you up to the minute deals, prices and offer any trade in on existing leisure vehicles.
The halls are surrounded by many smaller vendors too, who offer accessories, products and services accumulated in one place. It is a well-known pleasure of our family to stroll the outside of the halls looking at new and innovative accessories.
Of course the accessories are well catered for with big accessory stands offering show discounts and special show deals on many consumables such as toilet chemicals. Awning and tent manufacturers also exhibit their products and are on hand to share tips on using their products and help in selecting the right size for your caravan or motorhome.
If you are stuck for destination ideas many associations, large campsites and clubs have an established presence at the show. Offering memberships and information on holiday ideas, destinations and travel plans. It’s a great place to find up to date information on ferries and perhaps campsites further afield.
Finally, one of the nicest things about the show is the knowledge and information that is shared via the various talks, discussions and presentations held throughout the show. The Inspiration theatre is where celebrities share stories, industry representatives discuss key aspects about leisure vehicles and also cooking demonstrations take place too.
A few years ago I created a survival guide on the NEC shows and shared some tips if you are attending. Although new COVID precautions also now need to be considered, much of the video is still valid.
So, are we attending? Yes we are – currently we are unsure on what specific dates we will be at the show, but rest assured we will be sharing show highlights on our various social media platforms. We are looking forward to reconnecting with so many people once again that have become good friends over the years. The show brings together brands, products buts importantly people. And we cannot wait.
